The Entrepreneurial Idea: In 25 words or so, please highlight why readers should care about this Ethan Award nominee.

Jay wrote Keep Swinging to inspire others to overcome obstacles in their lives and he continues to spread this never give up message every day.

Please describe the creative and entrepreneurial achievements of the Ethan Award nominee:

Jay Myers has numerous entrepreneurial achievements over the past 14 years. After being fired in 1995, Myers started Interactive Solutions, Inc. (ISI) in 1996 and has grown the company into a $15 million business that has made the Inc. 500/5000 list four times as one of the fastest growing private companies in the United States. Other recognition includes the Kemmons Wilson (founder of the Holiday Inn) Emerging Business Award, ORNL Business of the Year, Memphis Business Journal Small Business of the Year, Tennessee Fast 50, and the GBS Eagle Award recognizing the fastest growing companies in the Southeast U.S. Through the years, Myers has successfully expanded the company from its Memphis headquarters to satellite offices in Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Birmingham (AL), Oxford (MS) and Little Rock (AR). Myers’ creative achievements include leveraging video technology to provide specialized educational curriculum (such as calculus and foreign languages) through “distance learning” to schools in rural areas where students would otherwise not have access. Other creative uses of ISI’s distance learning technology included virtual field trips to places like the Smithsonian, San Diego Zoo, and a Central American rainforest. A proud moment for ISI recently was when a video link was established from a local girls high school in Memphis to home bound students in California who needed to attend school “virtually” due to an autoimmune disease that prevented them from attending school in person. ISI got nationwide exposure on ABC’s “Extreme Makeover”- Home Edition as a result of setting these systems up. ISI’s core strategy/mission statement has always been to improve people’s lives through effective implementation of state of the art video technology.

What skills has the nominee used to obtain these results? Please focus your entry around particularly novel or unique approaches, spectacular innovations, and creative insights:

The primary skill that Myers has used to obtain success at ISI has been his ability to overcome serious personal and professional obstacles; and in turn create a nationwide reputation as a strong, resilient company. Getting fired, a bout with cancer, partnership divorce, sudden death, and embezzlement are just a few of the issues he has had to deal with since ISI started in 1996. As a result, ISI’s success and growth are even more notable because the path to get there has not been easy. Myers’ message of never giving up and persistence is one he frequently shares with other small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs through numerous speaking engagements within various local community organizations, i.e. Rotaries, Chambers, and Kiwanis clubs. He also shares this message across the country through engagements with CEO (Collegiate Entrepreneur Organization), EO (Entrepreneurs Organization), and Inc 500 Conferences.

What does the nominee have in store for the next 5 years? How will it shape the nominee’s industry, the world of business or our culture at large? Please focus this answer around the nominee’s vision for the future and his/her specific plans for achieving these goals:

Myers envisions that over the next 5 years he will continue to grow ISI to its full potential while maintaining its first class reputation for quality and innovation. ISI expects to be the market leader in telemedicine and rural healthcare technology over the next 5 years and expand the company’s efforts on a nationwide basis. Myers plans to expand the reach of telemedicine to exciting areas like telementoring where specialists can assist other doctors worldwide via video to perform critical life changing procedures from heart transplants, to cancer surgeries, to every day joint replacements. He expects other medical needs such as OBGYN, ENT, teledermatology, and telepsychiatry to continue to grow and would like ISI to be at the forefront in leading this effort.

Myers also envisions continuing his “Entrepreneurial/ISI Gives Back” initiative over the next 5 years. He plans to do this by continuing to use his book, Keep Swinging, to help encourage and inspire other small business owners across the United States. He expects to continue to be a spokesperson on serious small business issues such as employee theft/embezzlement where he has gained a nationwide reputation working with the Certified Fraud Examiners (CFE) and the United States Secret Service (USSS). Specifically, Myers will also continue speaking and working with organizations such as EO and CEO, as well as, the Kauffman Foundation to promote entrepreneurship nationwide.

Jay Myers deserves to win this award because noone else wants it more than he does. For reasons unknown, his entry on the Ethan Awards site has been plagued with technical difficulties which have affected his fans’ ability to vote. However, Jay has been patiently persistent in communicating his desire to win this award. We’ve been thoroughly impressed by his energy. My vote goes to Jay.

Jay’s story of leadership, perseverance and hard work resonates with all of us that strive to be successful business owners; a great employers and one to give back to their community. Jay is very involved in “giving back.” I have personally witnessed his willingness to share with other’s his time and talents. Most business owers would love to have their employee’s loyalty and dedication that ISI (Jay) has. That speaks volume to both his character as a leader and to how he values them and their customers. Anyone would be proud to call themselves an ISI employee, customer or a friend of Jay Myers. Love, love, love Keep Swinging!

  3. Jay’s book “Keep Swinging” is a truly inspirational book that shows the commitment he made to his business when he was faced with extreme adversity. Jay always puts people first and he genuinely cares about them. He has shown this by how he treats his employees and customers. He has also shown great support for his community. He serves as a mentor and guest speaker to many colleges to include the University of Memphis where I work and where he is an alumnus. Jay supports the U of M financially and with his time. The bottom line is Jay knows what helped him become successful and he wants to share that knowledge with others to help them become successful. I wish him the best of luck in winning the Ethan Award!

I’d like to nominate Jay Myers for a different reason.
I’ve known Jay since 1972. I went to high school with Jay. He was the Best Man at my wedding.
From his days as an Eagle Scout, I’ve watched him honor his parents, instill an incredible set of core values in both his children and stare down adversity that would have wiped out any other human being.I’ve watched him handle the death(s) of loved ones, serious illness of one of his children, and the thievery of an employee of his that almost took down his entire company. He survived all this due to sheer guts, an unshakable faith and an integrity that to this day simply blows me away.
The only thing more amazing to me than the book is the author.

The industry that Jay and ISI play in is a difficult one, best case. To face and overcome this kind of adversity in this industry is extraordinary. It’s uplifting to see a good guy finish first.

  11. Despite many obstacles, Jay continued to inspire his team, as he overcame betrayal and theft within his company. Jay stayed in the game and would not, and will not, be defeated. It is a timeless and inspiring story of determination and leadership, strengthened by the loyalty of family and dedicated associates.

“Keep Swinging” tells a painful story of trust misplaced, personal loss, financial loss, but a recovery, both financially and personally. Jay is one of a rare breed, one who practices what he preaches. I have done business with Jay since he first opened ISI because I know that I can rely on him to deal ethically with me and with all his employees and customers.

Mr. Myers has documented his struggle to establish and maintain his small business in the face of some of the worst adversity imaginable. It is a true inspiration to read his story, which illustrates the real meaning of “Keep Swinging!” After reading this book, it is hard to seriously look at the common excuses would-be entrepreneurs give for closing up shop, in the light of Jay’s tenacity and determination to succeed. You will also have a hard time ever again accepting the excuse, “I can’t.” Succeeding in a small business takes real work, and I highly recommend this book to all who contemplate taking the plunge.

Jay’s refusal to get discouraged and negative when faced with an employee’s robbing him at a time when Jay was hit with personal loss in his family…I admire that kind of courage and refusal to sour on himself and on others. He took a personal setback and used it to move ahead and stay positive. That is not easy!

  77. Randy Scott

    August 25, 2010

It’s not often you see a business success book that actually begins with and kind of centers around a corporate failure, but that is the case with ‘Keep Swinging.’ Jay Myers is open, honest, and frank about the adversity he and his company faced, and that really helps his ability to connect with the reader. I can understand the book. Everyone has tried and failed in their lives, everyone has trusted and lost, and as the book points out, everyone should try again. It’s not a fairy tale, too good to be true or unattainable for the average person. The book is believable plus it tells how. I can handle that.

i use Jay’s book and experince every year in my classroom. It helps to show our students the need for ethics in business and the results if you do not practice ethical behavior. His experience helps all of our guys understand a little better about the problems that may arise as a busuness owner.

As a business owner, Jay’s story really hit home with some of the same issues that I have experienced. Jay is a great example of being passionate about what you believe in and the perseverance it takes to stick with your business and personal goals and values. A great story of “good guys (and gals) always win,” although path may be a bit rocky!

I have owned and operated a business very much like Jay’s for 24 years. I have the people who stole from me stories, I have the inspiration from family stories and I have the team building stories. I nominate Jay’s book to validate the person who wants to start a business but needs to have eyes open to succeed. I think that if we continue to tell our stories we can help young entrepreneurs keep their chins up and gain ground on what Americans are best at, passionate, moral, ethical business growth. With all of the media outlets covering only greed we need to keep the discussion above that din. Jay has done that!

Jay Myers took a very negative business and life experience — being defrauded by a trusted employee — and turned it into a positive by writing about the experience to help others avoid the same fate. Beyond that, the book provides inspiration for others looking to make it on their own as a business owner.

Rarely do I read a book from cover to cover in one setting. Jay Meyers’ book, Keep Swinging, however, is that rare exception. Jay’s ability to step back from the pain points of being an entrepreneur and with an open and authentic voice reveal his lessons learned makes his book an excellent read for all. Keep Swinging speaks volumes about Jay, the man…. an inspiration to all.

The book hits (no pun intended) home for any young aspiring entrepreneur. It is a reality check for anyone who seeks that independence in business and clearly illustrates the risk/reward trade-off that is owning your own “piece of the rock”. Leverage, outside shareholders, etc…Jay shows each of us how the “game” is never really over and that “arriving” is really in the eye of the beholder. Nice work Mr. Myers! I hope you win…you deserve it.

Jay Myers has written a very personal account of life in the trenches for the entrepreneur. I’ve heard him speak in front of an audience and seen that audience listen with rapt attention while he expanded on several points found in his book. In addition, I know first hand the kind of professionalism he demands from his workers. I have been a customer of his for about ten years and can think of no one I would rather handle my communication needs that Interactive Solutions. I have several of his colleagues listed on my cell phone for emergencies, and know that I will get first class service on any day of the week…including Sunday, if necessary. That’s the kind of service he provides for his clients.

In my opinion, Jay Myers should win this award because he’s not one of those ‘elitist successful people’ who looks down on everyone with less financial success as him/her. Instead, Jay’s level of detail and attention to specificity of how to overcome real obstacles can benefit anyone from entrepreneurs trying to build the next Google to average Joe’s trying to overcome the regular struggles of life. I’m the son of an entrepreneur, and I’ve seen firsthand the incredible emotional struggle my dad’s landscaping company has put him through. It’s people and books like these that help you keep on pushing forward. Whether Jay win’s this prestigious Ethan Award or not, I’m thankful to have met him and been inspired by his work.

Jay’s book is very insightful for companies and individuals during these trying times. He is a “class” act and great mentor.

  128. I have had the opportunity to know Jay Myers for over a decade; initially by way of his volunteer commitment to the Boy Scouts, then as a vendor for his company. But, not just any vendor … you see, I am the fraud examiner that investigated the corporate embezzlement of which Jay speaks of in his book. From a first-hand perspective, I had the opportunity to see how fraudster Linda Merritt affected Jay and his company financially and emotionally. Also, I had many conversations with and counseled with Jay as he struggled with this adversity; and was proud to see the methods, processes and entrepreneurial spirit he deployed to “Keep Swinging.” And, he did keep swinging personally and professionally, championing his company though the tough times on to great success. Jay, you get my vote!

Of the numerous business books with nuts and bolts how to do it advice, Jay’s “Keep Swinging” rises above with a clear message – You can do it! – be aware of details, stay focused, and not afraid to rumble when necessary.

I received this book from a friend of mine that is a small business owner. He had read it and couldn’t stop talking about it so i decided I would read it. I couldn’t put it down. I see now why he wanted me to read it. It is not just a book of the 123′s of how to run a business but a story that takes a family from the bottom to the top of everyday life with all the crazy stuff thrown in when you least expect it and the best part was that it was all true. This book is not only a story to stop and read but a help to people out there that need help in their business and everyday life. I want to vote for Jay Myers. Thanks for the book and Good Luck.

Jays book was not only timely but super helpful in that prior to the arrival of our current executive director we suffered similar circumstances. His insightful view has been very helpful as we cover some of the same ground that Jay has already traversed.

There’s a unique reason about why Jay should win this award. It’s not for the pat on the back or the plaque on the wall – rather it’s about the push it will give the book, expose it to others so they can learn, find encouragement and find the will and perseverance to continue, when the odds seem so against them.

  196. C. Douglas

    August 30, 2010

Jay’s book is the reason that he should win this award.

Took a look at this book at a book signing and decided to take a chance and read it. WOW! Thought it would be just another one of those how to do it business books but it is far from that. This is an impowering story of
a man that overcame all the bad things and still had his family and employees standing not behind him but beside him through it all. Great book and good information for anyone. Mr. Myers is a great Entreprenuer.

In a 30 year career working with small business and new ventures, I have never seen anyone as determined as Jay to build a business. Starting a new company is about the hardest thing anyone can do. If you knew the problems that would come up, you would probably punt on the front end. Jay personifies the attitude that readers can attempt to model as they start their own adventures.

  269. Andy Meek

    September 10, 2010

I think the reason Jay’s story resonates with people is that in this period of a merciless recession and the inherent unfairness of external interventions in the marketplace, it’s nice to be reminded of one of the things that make this country great. Namely, that a man can start with a good idea, and he can use it to build something fueled by hard work that can stand the test of time. Jay’s message is that we can do it too, if we just Keep Swinging.

  270. Michael Morris

    September 12, 2010

What is special about this book is the honesty of the story. It is a business story about successful venture creation, but ultimately is a human story about pain, emptiness, joy, pride, and the will to succeed. It is about people, and how they let you down, but also how they enable your success. It capture the essence of what it is like to be an entrepreneur.

Mr. Jay Myers is an incredible role model for entrepreneurs everywhere. Mr. Myers story of overcoming betrayal and handling negative situations with a positive attitude is incredibly inspirational. I had a chance to speak with Mr. Myers after he presented at Oklahoma State University, he is a man with a system. Mr. Myers inspired me to have a strong sound organizational structure for my business. As a business owner, Mr. Myers employs several people, gives access to people who need medical attention. Those people wouldn’t be reached if it weren’t for Mr. Myers Company. He services the medical, educational and business fields with cutting edge technology, which is a service to society creating value. Mr. Myers should be the recipient of the award.

One reason Jay Myers book is a winner. He gets it. After everything he and his company has gone through, he never quit. Jay seems to understand it’s about the relationships and people. He should have been a statistic in the business world, but now he and his company are national leaders. Many have hit home runs in their life time, but none have ripped it out of the park like this book. It has definitely shined a new and welcome light for me.

Jay’s book is certainly a story of survival, but more importantly a guidebook on following a mission. Having had the opportunity to work with Jay and his company, I can certainly attest to the reality of his story…They are not just words on paper. My compliment to Jay and his ISI staff is that they definitely understand that the rest of us are on a mission as well, and they go above and beyond to see that we reach our destinations.

Jay has not only done a wonderful job at creating his business and overcoming a lot of things he writes about he is a fantastic citizen and a really nice person. He has personally helped me as well as many untold others. He crosses over and helps a lot of people (not that he would say so).

I had the opportunity to not only read Jay’s first hand accounting of dangers in busienss, I played a round of golf with Jay at an annual Inc 500 event and discovered a man genuine in everything he does. Starting with reading the greens, which may attribute to the round winning 75 foot put I made. In his book that genuiness comes out as he describes the values of audit and protection of your companies books. They after all are the bloodline of your business.

    Jay gets my vote.

I enjoyed reading Jay’s book “Keep Swinging”. It was a book about struggle and overcoming adversity, which I found extremtely motivating. It was very enlightening to read a book that showed not only his rise and fall, but the rise again after a painful experience. It teaches you even when times get really tough, to keep moving. Thanks Jay!

As a customer of Interactive Solutions I value Jay’s determination to succeed and desire to excel by doing things the right way. “Keep Swinging” is a testament to what makes a person successful. It reminds us all that success is not what you acheive, but how you respond to adversity. I value the relationship I have with Jay and his company and the trust I have in Jay’s ability to perform under pressure.

I have known Jay and provided his insurance since shortly after he founded Interactive Solutions. From the beginning he has been a man of vision and determination. Although he was very aggressive in building his business, he never did it at the expense of his character. He has always treated his customers and his employees fairly and with respect. This was especially evident as we worked through the employee dishonesty claim which led to his writing this book. He quickly overcame his emotions of anger and hurt and began focusing on saving his company and his employees’ jobs. He definitely deserves this prestigious award.

I tend to read a lot of books focused on business and leadership, and “Keep Swinging” by Jay Myers, especially resonated with me. There are so many lessons and insights shared in this book, all of which are relevant to today’s evolving and fragmented business environment.

In a world filled with stories of business failure, corruption, and politics, this book provides a looking glass into the other side of the story. The story of a driven leader who brings his team through the many trials and tribulations of running a business – and achieves success.

Jay gives honest examples of the mistakes made, how things could have been done differently, and more important, how he managed to power through without losing focus of what matters. From building a support network of family, friends, employees, and faith, to growing through continuing education, networking, and influencing key business partners to help back his vision. Jay managed to put the right ingredients together to generate success. I commend Jay for writing a well articulated book, and sharing his message with other business leaders across the country.

I have always had the desire to start my own business and be my own boss. In Jay’s book I think he gives great insight on stumbling blocks that someone starting out would not know. In my work, I interview a lot of authors of business books each year, but only the best ones. I’ve introduced Jay Myers and his book, “Keep Swinging” to my audience more than once, so my endorsement for this award comes with my own brand approval. Jay’s book is a wonderful example of a “from the heart” work written by a “rubber-meets-the-road” entrepreneur. It inspires small business owners to keep their chin up as they grow their businesses, against all odds. Also, as a publisher myself, this book is well done and worthy of this award.

In the simplest of terms, Jay’s story is unique and especially impactful in that it truly relates to all of us readers that consider ourselves “average joes” trying to achieve success in our lives and running into similar hurdles. Particularly for those of us in Jay’s industry, it’s very inpirational to see how his resilience has paid off, especially considering all of the personal obstacles that were overcome in tandem with the career challenges. Great job!

Keep Swing in a great book. It is put plain and to the point of how to keep your head above water when it really gets bad. Jay fought back and that is what it takes in this day and time. His business has grown and is still growing when a lot of others are not and a lot have failed. Keep Swinging is a book that could be referenced by all small business owners and also individuals that have starting up a new business on their mind. Jay is a good man with what it takes in today’s world. Good Luck Jay.

Mr. Myers has written a wonderful book. I have read it more than once and get something new out of it everytime I scroll through the pages. It takes someone with a strong will and heart to focus on his business while he is fighting against what happened to his business. I read Mr. Myer’s book “Keep Swinging” and was greatly suprised. I thought it would be just another business book, but it is not. It is a personal story of someone
that almost lost everything they had worked for and not even know it was happening and finding out about it and fighting for what he had built and having his family and employees stand behind him. Mr. Myers has written a book that is very inspiring and a great help to any business owner. Good for you for getting the bad guy and especially having your business grow like it has in spite of all the bad times. This is a great book and well deserves this award.

    September 23, 2010

Jay should win because he showed his entrepreneurial spirit, not only in starting a company, but ensuring that his vision for sucess was fulfilled for not only himself and his family, but for those families he employed. When tested by adverse situations, his entrepreneurial skills again rose to the top in overcoming what could have been a serious disaster not only for him personally but for those families who relied on his business to survive. This was a truly inspirational look into what it takes to follow your dream and overcome obstacles either forseen or in Jay’s case unforeseen. This was a remarkable read in the life of someone (who could be anyone) and how in this country, anyone with the vision and skills to succeed can do so.

    September 23, 2010

Jay should win this award based on the fact that he has overcome obstacles that many others haven’t had to overcome. Besides his vision for using technology to enhance the workplace and education classrooms, Jay also had to overcome the obstacle of someone, whom he provided a living for, stealing his hard earned money. He overcame that obstacle and became stronger for it, not only personally but his company as well.

What an inspiring story. It shows that a person that has been knocked down by life can get up and make things work.
Jay is that kind of person and you can tell in this book by seeing that not only his family but all of his employees stood behind him during the hard times. His business knowledge and personal life are something to be

To write a book that shares such a compelling life/business story, must help the author heal and let others know how to avoid and if needed how to weather such storms. The book does a great job of revealing how such a personality, contagious and enthusiastic, is vital in life. I LOVED this book and learned a lot that I’ve shared with others who own their own business.

    September 24, 2010

Jay should win this award because he has shown his entrepreneurial sense of business skills, not only when times were good, but when unforseen obstacles confronted him. His formost thought was not only of his family but of the other families that depended on him because of his honesty, hard work, determination and ethics. Entrepreneurism is more than having the ideas, but it is having the courage to live by your ethical convictions, and Jay has most assuredly done that in business and life. This book was and is an inspiration to the example that nice guys do finish first!

As the former head of public relations for ABC Sports, FOX Sports Net and the White House Conference for Children and Youth, I can honestly and without hesitation say that, out of the hundreds of the entrepreneurial business professionals with whom I have worked, Jay Myers is at the very top of the list. What sets him apart is his singular devotion to the highest level of ethics and integrity, in his personal and professional life, I have ever seen. During the past three decades, a plethora of books have been written about the creation and management of businesses. In my opinion, none of them can match the attention to concrete and relevant details in “Keep Swinging” which will not only enrich but also inspire the aspiring entrepreneur.

I would like to say that Jay’s book is refreshing and inspiring. I have worked with his company for several years and know that kind of person he is and his book only shows my thoughts to be true. What a great story and for him to put his life out in the public to help others in the business world that might come across the problems that he did was a brave thing to do. This book tells the good and the bad of not only the business world of today but of life itself. Jay is a fine man and this book deserves this award. Thanks Jay for telling your story.

Most people would have not taken on the fight that Jay did but I know he is glad that he did. He is just that kind of a guy, doing what is right when it would be easier to just to let it go.
He put the bad guy away and turned his company around into a business that still growing despite the economic times that we are in now. What a story and what a book.

Jay’s book shows a look at real life. Not just how good it can be, but how really bad and scarey it can be. He laid it on the line and put his life out there in words to show everyone that you can come back after you have been knocked down. This is a wonderful story of guts and glory and we are fortunant that Jay has written it. I am sure that it will help a lot of business people and up and coming entrepreneurs. Great book Jay.

I have read this book and was totally impressed. Jay found the problem his business was having and dove right in to fix it. This book shows his business savy and faith that he could fix what was wrong. He stood up to the people that had taken what he had worked hard to build and put them where they belonged, in jail. If more people would do what Jay did today a lot of businesses that have failed would probably still be in business. Everyone that reads this book will get something out of it. I believe that Jay deserves this award. He is a great business man.

I bought Mr. Myers’ book at his first book signing. I have been in a small business for myself for years and I have seen and had lots of things happen to me over the years but thankfully not to the point that Mr.Myers has.
I admire him for standing up and fighting for what he had worked for, that took great courage. He has written a very inspiring book that has more information than you would ever imagine. I believe he is a fine person and also the business man that most people hoped they could be. His book is informative and down to earth and tells a great story of true life. “Keep Swinging” seems to be growing by leaps and bounds and it should be. The knowledge that can be had from reading this book is amazing. Mr. Myers has written a book that tells the business world how catastrophy can hit when you least expect it and how hard it is to reach out and grasp what you have worked so hard for and get it back in line. This is a book that tells how cruel life can be and teaches us all that you have to fight to keep what you believe in. This is a book that should receive this award.

This book has information that anyone would be able to use in the business world as well as life in general. Mr. Myers is a brilliant business man. He has built his business, fought to gain it back when someone tried to take it away by theft, and has grown it to what it is today. I know that Mr. Myers not only thinks of himself and his family, he thinks of his employees also. He is a fine man and his book is great.

  358. Rodney Williams

    October 12, 2010

What an inspiring book. Jay Myers has shown in his life and in his book how you can turn bad into good. He saw how to get the right help and put this thief that worked for him where she should be and stand up to the turbulants that would stop a lot of people from even trying. His story is truely uplifting. People should read this book and see how life should be lived. Mr. Myers is an entreprenuer to be looked up to. He deserves this award.

    October 13, 2010

I have read Jay’s book and it proves the kind of business man he is. He has proved himself in the business world and not the lititary world also. He is a fine person that would help anyone and has certainly helped everyone that reads his book. This book is really great.

  360. Alfred Bee

    October 13, 2010

I would like to make a correction of the last vote.
I wrote that Jay had proved himseld in the business world and meant to say “and now in the lititary world also”. He is a fine man and deserves this award.

Mr. Myers has written a wonderful book. This book shows that running a business is not just getting up and going to work every morning, there is always a fire that has to be put out and you are the one that has to take care of it. This book is an inspiration to all small business owners and entreprenuers. There is so much to be learned from Mr. Myers story and I just hope that everyone that reads it gets as much out of it as I did. Great Work.

    October 14, 2010

What an inspiration to all that read this book. So much true life drama and what a great ending. This book was written by a entrepreneur that has been through the good times and bad and has brought his company to the top again. This is a great story written by a great man.

  363. Chad Doberson

    October 14, 2010

Jay Myers started his business with a great hope in his heart and a spirit that was hard to knock down. He knew what he wanted to do and he went through all the rough times and still kept pushing untill he got it all together again and has grown his business into a 5 time INC 500/5000 winner. He has a business that is growing right now as a time when much larger companies than his are closing down. I think that is all that needs to be said about Mr. Myers except that his book is exceptional.
Congratulations Mr. Myers, you are an outstanding “Entrepreneur”.

    October 14, 2010

I was more than impressed with Mr. Myers’ book. I have never read a business book that has a story line, especially one that was a true life story. This book showed real problems that could have wiped his business out but he had the determination to not let that happen and he pulled his way back to the place he wanted to be and it shows what kind a person he is that his employees all stood behind him when they could have walked out. I believe that Mr. Myers is the kind of man that takes the bull by the horns and works hard to “Keep Swinging” in his personal life and his business life also. Wish there were more entreprenuers like him out there. Gook Luck.

  365. Lisa Shaver

    October 15, 2010

I read the book, “Keep Swinging”. It was unusual in that fact that Jay Myers told about the bad things that happened to him as well as the good. Most business people don’t want every one to know about the bad things that go on in their companies. I was very glad that I read this book it had so much to learn and was very interesting. I think the author is very brave write about all the things that happened to him and should be very proud of himself for doing such a grand job of it.

    October 15, 2010

This book was so well written. It showed the real feelings of being devastated by finding the theft in his business and having to struggle to get that taken care of to his health scare and the loss of such a close family member. He knew that even with all these problems he had to stand up and take control and fight for his business.
This shows what a great business man his is and the courage and faith that he has. This book was a great read. Thanks for the book Mr. Myers.

I finally got a chance to read Mr. Myers’ book this weekend. I wanted to start all over and read it again as soon as I finished. I was so impressed and it was so emotional. This book is great and lets his secret out. He is a really fine humam being that has a heart for his family and the people that work for him. It also shows his strengeh and ethics. He is an entreprenuer, that is for sure. What an outstanding book. It will be of help to anyone that reads it.

This book is a great read. So much helpful information. I would have never thought that someone in my company was stealiing especially when things were looking so good. It took a strong business man to step in and take control and figure out how to make everything right in his company. I was very impressed with his book and with him.
What a challenge he took on and how great he turned it around to get his company back on it’s feet. Congratulations!

    October 18, 2010

I was truely impressed with “Keep Swinging”. This book was written from the heart. What a hard time going through with a close relative’s death and then someone in your company steals from you. It takes a special kind of person to pick up the pieces of his physical loss and immediately starting fighting the financial loss. Mr. Myers is a couragous man to gather his feelings and get right into that fight and I admire him for that. His book is wonderful and I am so glad he wrote it. It is not only a great story but such a help to those that are in business for themselves or thinking of starting a small business. Great Book and Good Luck!

I have read Jay’s book and I loved it. It was a true story. That was really the great part. He is just the kind of man that the book says he is. If something goes wrong he will fight to the end to make it right. He did exactly that. He is a very fine small business owner. This book tells the real story of Jay and how he works and that is special.

    October 19, 2010

I would like to nominate Jay Myers and his book “Keep Swinging”. I read his book and it is a completely different take on a business book. It tells a real life story of what life can throw at you when you least expect it. It also shows how strong of a man Jay Myers is to handle his problems the way he did. This man has written a great book and runs his business with his heart and life lessons. I believe that is why is company is still growing while others are struggleing in the business world of today.

  384. Monty Harris

    October 19, 2010

Good Book. This was a very interesting book full of business tips to be sure to look for if you are a business owner. Jay Myers is a person to be admired for how he took his problems and worked like he did to get himself and his company out of what could have been a complete disaster. I was very impressed with Jay Myers and his book. He has my vote.

  385. Martie Caldwell

    October 19, 2010

I read Mr. Myers book and was so totally involved that I did not stop until I was finished. This a story that could happen to anyone but I don’t think that just anyone would have taken the steps that Mr. Myers did to straighten it out. I am so glad that he put this woman in jail. He also got right in there and saved his company and his employees stood right behind him. Reading this book shows that there are still good and honest people in this world today. I was totally impressed.

    October 19, 2010

Life is so full of terrible things that can happen to people and the things that they have worked so hard for like Jay’s business. He could have just sat back and let it happen but he didn’t. He found the help he needed and went to work and took back what belonged to him. He is to be admired for his actions and for writing his book which is really great. If I ever find myself in trouble I hope that he is on my side.

  389. Catherine Johnson

    October 19, 2010

In today’s world it should not be so easy to overlook the diligent individuals who wake up every morning putting the right foot forward, for not only oneself but for those they come in contact with along their way. It is a rare individual that does so these days and it is a privilege to know such an individual,Jay Myers. Keep Swinging was most educational in learning the possibilities that may happen within the corporate world and for most part any part of the world, but to learn of how ISI over came such difficulties in such a respectful manner just confirms why ISI is the right choice for business. Thanks for the opportunity to look inside.

  390. Carla Stoneham

    October 19, 2010

    October 20, 2010

This is a book that tell what business people have a fear of, embezzlement of their company. Jay’s fear came to life when he was in the middle of the loss of a very close family member. He was already down from his loss and then this hits him in the face. It takes a courageous person to take on a major business problem when still trying to copy with a family loss but Jay Myers did just that. This book tells the whole story and the kind of a person and business man that Jay is. He wrote this book to let the world know that life will throw you things that be overcome and that it is possible to do that. He is a very impressive business man. His book and he should win this award.

Jay represents the embodiment of “getting it done.” Many executives say they things they mean just to get attention but Jay puts his attention to the detail of overcoming barriers in business on a regular basis. That is why the book is an actual extension of Jay’s daily business plan.

Jay, you have really accomplished what you set out to do.

  415. Jose Gonzalez

    October 21, 2010

Jay Myers’ book is over the top. It is so down to earth and shows life as it really is, “scarey”. You never know what is around the next corner, especially in the business world. Jay has shown us all by his experiences that you have to be aware of what is going on within your business and how to fix it when things go wrong. He has shared his life to help others and that is something that most people don’t want to do. He is not ashamed of the problems he had and has given the advise to all who read his book of how to go about climbing out from the bottom back to the top and I think that is really brave. He has my vote. Congrats on the nomination.

  416. H. Lewis

Jay Myers has written an extremely good business book. It is not the usual book that tells you how to start up a business but a true story of how he started his business and had to fight to keep it alive. He also had health issues a death of a very close family member and an embezzelment to contend with. That is a lot to overcome but he did it and took his time to write this book to let people see what can happen when you don’t keep your eye on things all the time. This book is a quality read and can help anyone that reads it. Congratulations Jay.

I have heard Mr. Myers speak and also read his book. He is such a nice man and great author. He has written a book that tells his life story not only the good but the bad too. Most people don’t want others to know about the bad part of their life but I think very highly of Mr. Myers for sharing his with the world. The business world has not seen a book like this story in a long time. Most you see are the 123′s or abc’s of starting your own business and makes you think everything is going to be great. Jay Myers tells his true story of the good and not just the bad but the really bad. Only a few people I know would have fought to drag himself and his business back to the top and stay there and keep growing every year since his troubling time. His employees stood behind him because they trusted him and that really says a lot about Jay. The book is great and so is the author. Jay Myers should win this award. Good Luck.
